Walter C. McGill, Jr.

Walter C. McGill, Jr. currently serves as president of AHCDC and Chairman of the Board of Directors.  He has over 35 years of experience in the fields of residential and commercial development.  Mr. McGill was formerly a certified public accountant licensed to practice in Georgia and Colorado. In 1980, Mr. McGill joined KPMG’s National Tax Practice in Washington, D.C. where he served as technical consultant to the firm’s operating offices, primarily in the areas of real estate taxation, partnerships and tax credits.  Since leaving KPMG` in 1985, Mr. McGill has been active in the development of over 2500 multi-family housing units throughout the United States primarily utilizing low income and historic tax credits.  He was formerly the managing partner of the Atlanta office of Novogradac and Company, a national accounting firm specializing in affordable housing.  Mr. McGill is the former publisher of the Low-Income Housing Monthly Report and is a frequent speaker at seminars dealing with housing.  He also co-authored the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Handbook (1995 Edition), published by Clark Boardman Callahan and author of several articles in leading tax periodicals dealing with tax issues.  Mr. McGill is a graduate of the University of Georgia  (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa ) receiving a BA Degree in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Taxation.  Mr. McGill is a veteran of the U.S. Army and former member of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.

Charles D. Bussard

Charles D. Bussard currently serves as a Director and Vice President of Construction for AHCDC.  Prior to his retirement in 2018, Mr. Bussard was Senior Vice President of construction of Lauren Development, LLC which developed and built single-family subdivisions in the Southeast and affordable housing communities utilizing low-income housing credits.   Previously, he was Senior Project Manager for Trammel Crow Residential and was responsible for construction of several thousand apartment units in Florida and Georgia.  His work experience includes working with prominent real estate companies such as The Arvida Corporation, Property Company of America and The Stokes CompanyHe is a licensed General Contractor in both South Carolina and Georgia and is a past member of the National Association of Home Builders.

Dorothy D. McGill

Dorothy D. McGill is a licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State of Georgia. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia and a Master’s of Science in Nursing Education from the University of North Georgia. She has practiced in Georgia since 1975 in various nursing roles and for the past 10 years has taught nursing as a senior lecturer in the Department of Nursing at the University of North Georgia. Following her retirement in June 2021, she joined AHCDC as a member of the board of directors and assuming the role of Vice President for Supportive Services.  Ms. McGill has served on numerous charitable and civic organizations in leadership positions.   

Beatrice Kovacs Mitchum, DLS

Dr. Beatrice Kovacs Mitchum retired as an Associate Professor of the Department of Library and Information Science in the School of Education at the University of North Carolina (Greensboro) in 2007, after 22 years of teaching, research, and service to the profession of librarianship.  Her work career began in medical libraries, moving to public libraries, and consultancy for all types of information settings.  She was elected President of the North Carolina Special Library Association in 1990.  She has also worked as an auto mechanic, church secretary, and administrator of an art gallery in addition to her professional pursuits.  Dr. Mitchum served on the Board of Directors for Lincoln County Artisans, a non-profit organization, and the Lincoln County Georgia Historical Society for 4 years,  She has written many articles and books about library issues and her latest book, Lincoln County (Images of America series by Arcadia Press) was published in 2012.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Syracuse University in 1966, a Master of Library Science from Rutgers – The State University of New Jersey in 1967, and Doctorate in Library Science from Columbia University in 1983.
